Tournament Rules
- Each game (round robin and finals) will recognize those players that have left it all on the ice! Coaches be prepared to select your own team’s Player of the Game for a post-game award. Also, please have your team lineup on their respective blue line immediately following the game for the award presentation. Strive to recognize / choose a different player during round robin games. All players can, once again, be chosen from your roster during your respective semi and/or final game on Saturday and Sunday.
- Your damage deposit was paid for a reason.
- Player Eligibility - Hockey Canada Rosters (or equivalent if from outside Canada) are required for all teams participating in the tournament. If player authenticity should be challenged by any competing tournament team or the Tournament Committee, then ID proof must be provided. A team may not pick up any players outside of its own local association or from a higher ranked tier within its own association. If additional players are required to fill out a team roster, those players must be added from lower ranked tiers in the age division, within the team’s association. Affiliate Players (“AP”) must be pre-approved by the Tournament Committee and cannot be changed once the tournament is underway. No AP player can participate in the tournament without prior approval from the Tournament Committee. Non-approved players will be recognized as Ineligible Players
- Harassment - The Tournament Committee will not tolerate any abuse of game officials by players, coaches or spectators. Likewise, abuse of any member of any team will not be allowed. Verbal or physical abuse by a player, spectator or team representative towards a Tournament Committee member, Tournament Volunteer or Game Official for any reason, will result in the loss of all or a portion of the team’s Damage Deposit and may result in the immediate removal from the arena of the person in question, or a team expulsion from the tournament
- Team Spokesperson - All teams must assign a Team Spokesperson (generally, this would be the Team Manager), to deal with all questions, concerns and complaints. Where specific tournament rules or procedures are perceived to be contravened, such matters must be addressed immediately to a member of the Tournament Committee via the Team Spokesperson, accompanied by a $100.00 deposit. All rulings reached by the Tournament Committee are final. If a ruling is reached in favor of the team, the deposit will be returned in full.
- Interpretations of Hockey Alberta game rules or penalty allocations by game officials cannot be appealed. If there is a concern regarding the officiating, a written report must be submitted to the Tournament Committee via the Team Spokesperson, accompanied by a $100.00 deposit.
- Zero Tolerance Means: - The Yelnats Cup Tournament Committee will not tolerate any abuse of game officials by the players, coaches, or the spectators. Likewise, abuse of any member of any team will not be allowed. Inappropriate behavior or unsportsmanlike conduct will result in your immediate removal from the arena and could result in your respective team’s expulsion from the tournament.
- Respect both the On & Off-Ice Officiating. Give them a break, they’re here for you! YOU are responsible for what YOU choose to do!
- Your damage deposit was paid for a reason! Keep your dressing room clean and free from damage and you’ll get it back. Please read the information panel in your room to know what is expected of you. It is not up to anyone else to clean up after your team and we appreciate your respect of our recreation facilities.
- To keep graduating players from fighting in their last games a $150 fine will be applied if the graduating player fights.
- Upon receipt of a successful report from the SLSFSC Recreation Board (who manage the arenas the tournament will use) inspection of each team’s dressing room(s), your Damage Deposit etransfer will be returned or your cheque will be destroyed unless you request to have it returned. Should the SLSFSC Recreation Board inspection report prove to be unfavorable, any fines will be taken from the damage deposit and the remainder (if any) returned to the team.
