Showdown Skills Competition
Yes, the Thrills… the Excitement… the Laughter! Each team can elect to participate. In order to participate, each team must choose different player(s) for each category, i.e., you cannot have the same player competing in more than one skilled event. It’s been designed for Fun! Let’s strive to keep it that way! This fun event will be held on Saturday, March 28th, prior to the playoff rounds.
· The different categories included are:
1. Fastest Skater
2. Hardest Shot
4. Goaltender Challenge
· The different categories included are:
1. Fastest Skater
- Total entry of 2 skaters per team in Tier 1 and 1 skater per team in Tier 5 , two players at a time line up across from one another at the red line. To determine who matches against whom they will draw numbers; 1 will skate against 1 and so on. We will have two judges at the red line to indicate who crosses first. Then we proceed with the next two skaters and so on until we have finalists. Final two will skate and winner will be declared.
2. Hardest Shot
- Tier 1 will have 2 shooters from each team and they will each get two shots each. Tier 5 will have 1 shooter from each team and they will get 2 shots each. A puck will be placed at a predetermined point marked with paint. Player starts skating from the blue line and then takes the shot. First shot will be recorded, then the same player goes for the second shot. Time is recorded and the other shooters repeat the above. The hardest shot (fastest time) will be used to determine the winner. If there is a tie, the average of the players two shots will determine the winner. If still tied, a shoot off with one shot each will determine a winner.
- In Tier 1, 2 players and 1 goalie and in Tier 5, 1 player and 1 goalie from each team will start this challenge, players and goalies will not face off against their own team members unless it happens in the final. In Tier 1 goalies will each face 10 shooters, one shot each and in Tier 5 goalies will each face 15 shooters, one shot each. Goals and saves will be recorded for each goaltender and shooter. This will continue until all goalies and shooters have gone. Based on the results, we will have 2 goalies and 3 shooters in the finals unless there are more tied. For the finals, same procedure as above, only difference is we may have members from the same team competing against each other. If there is no clear goalie and shooter winner, a sudden death will determine final winners for both goalies and shooters.

4. Goaltender Challenge
- Will have 1 goalies from each team, if a team has only 1 goalie they may enter both goalie events. Challenge will start with the goalies lying on their back in the middle of the net/crease area, once they are told “Go”, they are timed. Goalie gets up to his/her feet, skates to the 2 pucks on the blue line, left hand side, goalies will turn around and shoot the puck for the net. For every goal that is scored, two seconds will be taken off their time. Goalies then skate to the pucks on the right side, shoot the puck and then skate hard and cross the goal line on the same side they are shooting from. Winner with the quickest time wins. If there is a tie, the finalists will repeat the challenge.
